Mother's Day-Part 2

Today I was thinking different things about my Mother. My mother led me to the Lord when I was seven in my bedroom. She made sure that church was a big part of our lives. We are still very close, though we do have our disagreements. I feel I can call on her anytime of the day or night. She used to sew some of my clothes. We even had some outfits that matched each other. I remember a couple of outfits that she made, she made the same outfit for my Barbie doll.
Mother is a great cook. She doesn't cook as often anymore. Some dishes that stick out are
cinnamon fluff, fried tomatoes, milk pie, lemon sponge pie, her homemade salad dressing, squaw dish, macaroni and cheese on the stove, chicken pot pie on the stove, apple pie, snickerdoodles and so much more. She has always been a classy dresser no matter what she had to work with.

Mother has a good number of christian friends. Her core group is "The Sewing Club Girls" . They have been thru thick and thin together. They stilll meet once a month after all these years. They don't do as much sewing anymore.

This year Mother is wondering how long she will be around because her oldest sister just died.
Jeanne was the first of the 4 sister to die. She was 86.

I am not a mother but I pray I can have a motherly influence over my niece and nephew, teaching them along with their parents about how to love God.

Mothers' Day

Today my sister,Jen and I took my mother out to lunch. We went today because the three of us can't be together tomorrow. We went to Mother's favorite place to eat, Country Cupboard in Lewisburg. We all had the buffet. Mother found something in her meat so they didn't charge her for her meal. Then all three of us got $5.oo coupon to use in the retail shops or bakery there. After lunch we spent an enjoyable time walking around the shops. I bought some spreaders that will go with the decor in my basement and some crackers that a fellow customer recommended.
We then went on to Kohls and looked around there for awhile, stopping at Starbucks on the way out. When we got back in the area, we went to Pizza Hut for supper.
It was a good time of fun, food and fellowship. Jen shared stories of her children. Nick(8) asked her what she liked for breakfast. He wants to serve her breakfast in bed tomorrow.
We hope we made my mothers day special. It was nice to be able to be together.

Changes can make you happy

Change is not easy. I have been through many changes in the last six months. I never thought I would come thru them. I am not one to say yeah! another change. But I am reminded of Romans 8:28 "All things work together for good to them that love God..." Now that I am in the middle of these changes, I can definitely say I am happier than I have been in a very long time.
Life brings us many changes-loss of jobs,loss of loved ones,loss of friends, loss of health, and on and on. I see now how God uses changes to bring bigger and better things in our lives. I knew these things before,but sometimes you have to experience them to really know it. I love what the Lord is doing in my life and how I am learning to trust him for my needs. He brings a smile to my face for the littlest things. Thank you God for changes. How have you accepted changes in your life?

Trying new things

I have been encouraged lately to try things I have never tried before. Several people have said
"Nothing ventured, Nothing gained." I watched "Julie & Julia" tonight with some friends. The main character creates a blog. Why couldn't I ? I love to write, but never took the iniatiative. You never know what you say to person can make such an impact. As I told a friend recently, I was always afraid to write because of grammar or punctuation. My father was an English teacher and I tend to think, what would he think of this .
I think I like to write so much because I have a love of books. I would love to create something that other people would be interested in reading. Writing is the biggest thing I would love to try at this point in my life. Words can be fun. Words can encourage and make you think. They can make you laugh or cry.
